STARR TALK Episode #1: James & Jerome

Welcome to Starr Talk, a new series of interviews with our Season artists recorded during their residencies upstate at Hubbard Hall. The Starr’s Creative Director & Co-Founder, Sue Kessler, lives near Hubbard Hall and is thrilled to have the opportunity to spend more quality time with our artists and host these talks.

Episode #1 is a “40 minute road trip” with artists James & Jerome, recorded in Sue’s car, driving from Cambridge, NY on the beautiful Country Roads 74 and 40 to the Amtrak train station in Albany at the end of their residency time. You’ll hear about this remarkable duo’s origins growing up together in Virginia Beach, the college years in NYC and “breaking up with math”, their journey of collaboration from mix CDs to their first show in New York (starring Annie Tippe!), their time at Hubbard Hall, plus a rapid-fire road trip essentials Q&A. Enjoy!

*Forgive the poor sound quality— it was tough to record in a moving car. Future talks will be better!
