Code of Community »
The Bushwick Starr is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive environment that supports meaningful art-making. Our community includes artists, designers, performers, staff, donors, collaborators, partners, vendors, rental clients, and audience members. All who engage with The Bushwick Starr—on-site or off-site—are expected to follow this Code and comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. We reserve the right to dismiss anyone who does not uphold these standards.
★ Safe Spaces
We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or behavior that limits anyone’s ability to express themselves. Concerns raised by community members will be taken seriously and addressed with care and equity.
★ Creative and Collaborative Integrity
We honor the contributions of all collaborators. Credit and recognition will reflect meaningful labor and investment—not presumed hierarchy. No one is interchangeable or disposable.
★ Calling Out and Calling In
We actively work to challenge racism, sexism, queerphobia, bias, entitlement, and other harmful behaviors—within ourselves and our organization. No one is above accountability, and we are all capable of growth.
