MEET THE TEACHING ARTISTS:
Andrew Scoville (he/him) is a director, teacher, and parent based in Ridgewood, Queens. He studied directing at NYU and he now teaches classes there in project leadership, directing, and game-play theater. He has directed plays all over New York City (including right here in at The Bushwick Starr!). He has worked on Broadway as an associate director and is working on a new immersive play with David Byrne that is currently running in Chicago. His favorite plays usually have elements of science, technology, or audience interactivity.
Jaclyn Backhaus (she/her) is a playwright, teacher, and parent based in Ridgewood, Queens. She studied acting and writing at NYU and now teaches playwriting there to undergraduate students. Her plays have been produced off-Broadway at NYC theaters like Playwrights Horizons, the Public Theater, Manhattan Theater Club, and Clubbed Thumb, and some of them are published and get produced across the country. Her favorite plays usually have historical significance, magical elements, or a little bit of funky dance in them.
