The Bushwick Starr stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and supports the protests throughout the country and throughout the world calling for police reform and the prosecution of officers who have murdered black people in America. We acknowledge that we are a largely white-run institution working inside of a white supremacist system and residing within a community of color in Bushwick. Our own anti-racist work inside our organization is vital in order to contribute to the anti-racist work that is urgent, necessary, and overdue throughout this country. We are committed to holding ourselves accountable by continuing to work with black and brown leaders in our neighborhood and our artistic field, and recommitting ourselves to our Code of Community.

For white and non-black allies and those confronting their own racial bias we leave the below list of resources, funds, and organizations that you can assist or that can assist you in continuing your anti-racism work, and we welcome all to contribute to this list by contacting info@thebushwickstarr.org.
