Cindy

As a Mexican-American Actor, Sara believes that authentic storytelling and honest representation are key factors in social and universal change.

Born and raised in San Antonio Texas, Sara grew up around rich and authentic Tejana culture which has shaped who she is today.

Sara is a New York City - based theatre, television, and film Actor with a B.F.A in Acting from Ithaca College.

Sara hopes to embody roles that  represent her Chicana culture, as well as embody roles with honest and organic narratives. With her love of embodiment and stroytelling, Sara dreams of playing a wide range of characters. 

Maria

Brenda Flores is a dancer, actor, and teaching artist. She began her career as a professional Mexican Folklore dancer at 16 years old. Brenda was a member of the renowned Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández, where she performed with the first company and held residency in the Palacio de Bellas Artes, CDMX.

Brenda started her acting education at Van Mar Academy in Los Angeles and continued her training in Meisner technique at Maggie Flanigan Studio in New York City, completing the conservatory in 2021.

She recently starred in the role of "Maria" in the play Quince, written by Camilo Quiroz-Vasquez, and performed various roles as an actress and dancer in the play Sugar Skull, directed by Elena Araoz.

As a teaching artist, she focuses on combining her dance experience with her business knowledge to create artistic opportunities for her local community, working closely with local educational and rehabilitation programs.

Salomon

J.A. Pérez (He/him/his), 36. Actor/Poet. José Angel Pérez serves as actor/alumni and consultant for Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA). He also works as a Youth Worker professional in East Harlem. José has dedicated his life and transformation to the arts. He had previously appeared in Cyrano and 1776 with RTA’s theatre ensemble. Jose has also performed in over 12 productions with the Art Tree Theatre group that includes serving as stage manager in 12 Angry Men and as Delbert in Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen’s The Exonerated. Other plays José has been in include Moby Dick: Rehearsed, Griller, Aesop Fables, Channels of Life (writer/actor), Eugene Ionesco’s Rhinoceros, and the tragedy of Julius Caesar. José would like to thank One Whale’s Tale for giving voice to love and inclusion in their stories and their constant support.

Jaguar/Grandma Carmen

Talisa is a graduate from CUNY BA with a BA in Latin American Art & Performance.  A multidisciplinary artist, Talisa holds a deep devotion to community and social engagement. Talisa recently performed in Quince Workshop (Jaguar) at The Shed, Persou at Cell Theatre, 14 at Tribeca PAC, and Dance Nation (Maeve) at Frederick Loewe Theatre. Talisa would like to thank her Mamá and her familia for their unconditional support. 

Quetzi

Quetziquetl Angulo is an indigenous Mexican woman. She was born and raised in Mexico, and has been living in New York for the past nineteen years. Practicing traditional Mexica/Aztec dance and other native ceremonies has been a central part of her life since 2003. She is also a traditional birth and postpartum doula, an artesian, and traditional jewelry designer. She has extensive experience in Mexica/Aztec dance and also the ability to link dance to community and leadership development with young people in a holistic approach to health and healing through traditional native practice.

Katie

Saige Larmer is a queer actor and performance artist based in New York.

​Their work has been seen at The Public Theater, Lincoln Center, The Shed, The Bushwick Starr, Ensemble Studio Theater, The Tank and Theatre Row. Most recently, they starred in Quince by One Whale’s Tale at Domino Sugar Park as part of the inaugural Sugar Sugar! Festival. They are a proud member of the Actors Center 25-26 Mentorship Cohort.

 In New York, Saige has trained with Maria Dizzia, Erica Fae, Jaclyn Bethany, Scott Freeman, Tina Satter, and Lisa Fagan, among others. They received their BFA in Acting from UT Austin.

The Tricky Coyote

Anabel Lugones De León (they/she) was born and raised in the Bronx. They are Dominican and Cuban. They are about to graduate from Hunter College with degrees in dance and theatre. Past theatre experiences at Hunter include: Cows of War, Proof, The Time of Your Life, and Antigone. Anabel played Coyote in QUINCE at The Bushwick Starr. Anabel is an activist, fighting for equality and combating climate change.

Father Joaquin

Camilo Quiroz-Vázquez is a Chicano theater artist, filmmaker, and visual artist from Los Angeles, California. He began his artistic journey at a community arts center, Plaza de La Raza, which inspired and empowered him to study at New YorkUniversity’s Tisch School of the Arts. In 2012, Camilo co-founded the multimedia production company One Whale’s Tale with Ellpetha Tsivicos.

Camilo first collaborated with Brooklyn-based ensemble the TEAM when he filmed and edited a short documentary about the creation of Primer for a Failed Superpower. In August of 2020, he wrote and co-created a workshop of QUINCE, as part of the TEAM’s Petri Project Series, which was performed outdoors at the People’s Garden in Bushwick. QUINCE was then commissioned to be a part of the Bushwick Starr’s 2022 season and was developed through a residency at THE SHED. QUINCE has inspired a series of community events, including two Dia de los Muertos celebrations with the Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club and a piece at the Summer Arts Festival hosted by OYE! Group and the Bushwick Starr, culminating with QUINCE en La Plaza. QUINCE en la Plaza was commissioned by Lincoln Center as part of their Summer for the City series.

His other credits include the outdoor immersive spectacle Leonora’s World (Designer, Performer) at Double Edge Theatre, Persou (Writer, Co-creator) at the cell theatre in Manhattan, Night Descends on Svalbard (Writer, Co-creator), which was part of the Exponential Festival, and Dolores (Co-writer), a short film about colorism in the Mexican-American community. Camilo crafts stories, masks, puppets, and large sculptural objects inspired by the stories, songs and dances of his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, godparents, friends, neighbors, and spirits who intimately shared the spaces of his childhood.

Selena

Ellpetha Tsivicos is a Cypriot-American dialogical artist whose work is driven by Magical Urbanism, an exploration of how ancient traditions exist and evolve in modern urban landscapes. Her production company, One Whale’s Tale, creates maximalist work that blends the sensations of music, dance, film, puppets/masks, food, vibrant color, narrative storytelling, a night out at a bar, a family party, and a festival into undefinable multidisciplinary performance. Her company prides itself on its institutional autonomy and knowing how to properly break the rules. Most recently, she has been building community through free physical ensemble workshops that create a space for group exploration, deep listening practices, and free form movement through live music and play. She is inspired by both the permanence and ephemera of nature, bright colors, form, broken forms, and community. Conversation is art, and culture is an act of resistance.

Her work includes QUINCE at the Bushwick Starr, QUINCE en la Plaza at Lincoln Center, Night Descends on Svalbard as part of the Exponential Festival, Persou at the cell theatre, Primer for a Failed Superpower for the TEAM, the Art in Embassies Gala and MoMa PS1 Gala with Mariah Robertson. Her book, A Life Into Lands, was published in English and Cypriot. She is the co-creator of I Wish I Knew How, a creative arts program for formerly incarcerated people, the Brooklyn Cumbia Festival, as well as a series of award-winning short films, documentaries, and music videos. She has developed work through residencies at The SHED and the TEAM’s Petri Projects and is currently part of the Devised Theater Working Group at the Public Theater in Manhattan.

As a dialogical artist, she considers every conversation to be part of the art and part of the work: an opportunity for a real connection, deep listening, creation, and an invitation to join in her pursuit of bringing people together.
