Accessability Initiatives
The Bushwick Starr is committed to creating an accessible and welcoming environment where artists, audiences, students, and neighbors can fully participate in the life of our theater. Accessibility was a guiding priority throughout the renovation of our new permanent theater, designed by the award-winning architectural firm Bureau V Architecture.
The Starr is a street-level, fully accessible space with ADA-compliant wheelchair and mobility access needs built directly into our 5,000 sq ft layout.
Our theater has accessible wheelchair and transfer seating options available. You can specify your seating needs when purchasing tickets or notify the box office or front of house staff upon arrival.
The Starr is committed to offering enhanced access tools for our productions, including ASL-interpreted performances, translated performances, assisted listening devices, and captioning (either on mobile browsers or provided devices).
A Home for Artists

Production Apprentice Pilot Program
The Starr is building a new apprenticeship pathway for emerging production workers interested in technical theater and live performance. The program grew organically from hiring and mentoring first-time crew members, many of whom have gone on to work at organizations including JACK, HERE Arts, Connelly Theater, and The Bushwick Starr.
