Land, Labor, & Neighborhood Acknowledgement »

We recognize that we gather on the unceded land of the Lenape and Canarsie Nations. We honor their elders past and present and the generations to come, and we support Indigenous sovereignty and preservation.

We acknowledge that this land was built through the uncompensated labor of enslaved Black people; labor that continues to lack reciprocation, reparations and beneficial returns. We recognize the ongoing impact of that injustice.

As a white-founded organization with largely white leadership and many staff members from outside the neighborhood, we recognize our role in the ongoing shifts in Bushwick’s economic and cultural landscape. We commit to accountability and to honoring the history and communities that shaped this neighborhood long before us.
