TICKETS ON SALE NOW AT: brownpapertickets.com "With undercurrents of individuality and free speech, as well as some anti-consumerism flavors, it’s a good ol’ stick-it-to-the-man story for the hipster set." - Meredith Deliso, New York Post "Why are these guys not huge? Well, that might be about to change, as the band opens the new play, New Hope City. These are four fun dudes determined to make you have the time of your life." - The Sky Report "Consider hits from The Strokes, only imagine them catchier, less faded and with vocals not nearly as strained or affected. Consider that the musicians also make art—like Lansing Dreiden, but without the shroud of mystery or lofty price tags. Pass Kontrol, the four-person Brooklyn-based art collective, has a do-it-yourself aesthetic without the chipped shoulders that often come with the territory." - Eliza Bent, The Brooklyn Rail "Bushwick art collective Pass Kontrol project themselves into the ultimate futuristic indie fantasy..." - L Magazine New Hope City is a post-apocalyptic, rock-and-roll show about three sketchy dudes, and one half-robot/half-dude broadcasting pirate radio in the seedy outskirts of a beautiful, franchised city, owned and operated by an omnipotent mega-corporation. The play is a raw, hand-crafted, musical collage about a future world, using elements of live music, live action, film, and dance creating an interactive story for the audience.

Rachel Frank Presents: SLEEP OF REASON: A Sculptural Performance Saturday, March 6th, 2010 Doors open at 7:30 p.m., Performance at 8:00 p.m. Admission: $5.00 (suggested) *A brochure with an essay by New York-based writer, Stephen Tateishi, is included with admission. Latecomers will not be admitted once the performance has started.
Written and Directed by Rachel Frank Starring: Melanie Torres, Ruthie Scarpino, Angelica Pinna-Perez, and Dan Theisen Stage Lighting Design by Greg Goff Costumes and Sets by Rachel Frank Sleep of Reason uses the allegorical narratives in Francisco Goya’s Los Caprichos and The Disasters of War series to examine the theatrical/performance implications of prisoner torture and abuse depicted in the Abu Ghraib photographs. The performance is set up in a tableau vivant manner: staged still scenes are briefly illuminated with a flash of light cutting through longer periods of darkness. The performance is not an exact reproduction of the images in the photos, but rather, like Goya’s prints, uses fantastical costume and allusion as an allegorical critique. Referencing his works, the costumed performance suggests the recurrent darkness beneath the rational and enlightened society of today. Born and raised in Kentucky, Rachel Frank is a sculptor based in Brooklyn. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including grants from The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, and residencies at The Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation and The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. This will be her first theatrical performance. For more information about Rachel Frank, visit: www.rachelfrank.com
